I agree completely. This is the result of forcing a euro-centric
political structure on people who have developed under tribalism.

Is it "racist" to say that they would have difficulty adapting
to another socio-political structure? Would it also be "racist" to
say that we in the (modern) technologically developed world would have
difficulty adapting to traditional tribalism?

That's odd. Liberia is America's baby. It is a noble gesture that the
Bush administration recognizes US history and pokes their nose in
there.

Maybe they even have some WMD.

Trillions had been taken out of it prior to 1940, with a lot of bloodshed
and robbery to accompany the transfer.

Default Kofi Anan To Africans--Your Sorry Plight Today Is Your Own Fault (right-wing)

Is there anything wrong with being right-wing? Ronald Reagan, Margaret
Thatcher, Winston Churchill, Milton Friedman, William F. Buckley, Adam
Smith etc. were all right-wing and all great human beings.

The New York Times, flagship of leftwing print media, has recently been
guilty of plagiarism. The Times has always been pro-commie and
anti-American. It is a yellow journalism rag just like the Toronto Star.

The West since the end of European colonialism in sub-Sahara Africa has
poured billions of dollars in aid into the continent. How the hell is
that "heavy handed"? This useless foreign aid has got to stop. It has
done no good and the West is broke. The West's policy towards Africa
will now have to be one of "benign neglect". and

Oh, so you like power after all, just as long as it is not American.
Commie hypocrite.

Default Kofi Anan To Africans--Your Sorry Plight Today Is Your Own Fault (socialism)

When European colonialism collapsed after WW II the Third World was not
forced into anything, especially by the U.S. In fact most Third World
African countries embraced Soviet-style socialism on their own volition
and this ideology was, of course anathema to the U.S. The socialism in
Africa did not work and these countries, and some Muslim nations, have
paid, and are still paying, the price.

Can't you "liberals" understand that not all economic, cultural and
social problems are the result of racism? You idiots with your trite
buzzwords and one-dimensional thinking can be very annoying. And you
are always wrong.

Look at Japan, South Korea, China, all thriving nations that
are populated by a non-Caucasian race. The impoverished Palestinians are
of the same race and ethnicity as the successful Israelis. Race does not
explain why some nations and peoples are poor and others successful and
comparatively wealthy. Read P.J. O'Rourke's "Eat the Rich".

Right-wing Author Joseph Farah the founder of WND is a Christian Arab.
The successor to General Tommy Franks, the architect of the successful
American conquests of Afghanistan and Iraq is an Arab American of
Lebanese decent. It this racism? You "liberals" have racism on the brain.

How assinine can you be? That is like saying the U.S. is Britain's baby
as it was once an English colony. Liberia is on its own.

You exaggerate. Billions perhaps. But not by the Americans. The former
colonial powers exploiting Africa were Belgium, France, Portugal,
Holland Britain and Germany.

By whom and when? All this aid to all of Africa is probably 5% of the aid
extracted from the US by the Israelis.

But the Israelis have been robbing them of their land on an ongoing basis.

tribalism.

Uhm, all of us developed under tribalism. So that's really not
relevent.
What might be relevent is complaining about the political borders
which were drawn in Africa by the West without regard to tribes
or nations which were split and combined within them. Yet if
that's the problem, why aren't those borders changed now? Why has
the UN decreed all political borders in Africa inviolate and unchangeable?

What socio political structure? They're all dictatorships, one
and all, and mostly run by members of one tribe within a given
nation. The problem in Africa is not difficulty adapting to
socio-political structures; it's theft, corruption, and
brutality.

Would it also be "racist" to

No, but it would be untrue in this context. There are a number of
Western nations which have multiple "tribes" or nations within,
all living peacefully, if not perfectly, together.

Personally, I'd like to see Africa reconolonized and run by the
West until sufficient locals could be educated in good
universities, then trained and work their way up the local
governmental ladders. Start them out running local affairs, then
state or provincial, then give them more and more power at the
national level. It'd be expensive, but without it, with the West
just doing the same as we've been doing for fifty years, I see no
likelihood of change in Africa over the coming century. The
alternative to that is to just abandon the continent entirely,
stop sending any aid at all, and let things boil over in a
cauldron of bankruptcy and starvation in the hopes that whatever
new governments emerge would be more inclined to help their
people rather than themselves.

As an exception, Jews are a deeply tribal people and they are very well off
indeed, especially in the Anglo-centric political countries of the world.
