I first became a Republican when Barry Goldwater was
running for President, back in 1964, and have been one since. Over the years, I've held elected local, county, and state positions in the party, and have attended some of its conventions as a delegate. Over all those years of experience in varying roles, I was well aware of the detrimental changes that were occurring within the party, but until recently, had no clear idea of the actual severity and sinister nature of those changes, and the implication this held for all Americans. The party was benign and citizen- friendly in 1964, but 40 years later, it is rapidly becoming exactly the opposite. And the transformation has reached quite an advanced stage. In Iowa, at the state conventions, I've been able to have *some* limited influence on the party's platform, but what I've accomplished in that regard has literally been the equivalent of a drop of water in a rainbarrel-full. So my own state's Republican Platform is a wish list for the political and social aspects of America. That's what all party platforms are, so in itself, that would be no surprise. However, Iowa's Republican platform is literally infested with hateful and bigoted planks. If bigotry were termites, the platform would be a pile of sawdust by now. Unfortunately, bigotry is far more anaologous, in this case, to stainless steel nails. The platform has become monolithic and unassailable! And it does NOT have the best interests of Americans at heart. The subversion of the Republican Party has been inexorable and relentless since the early 1980s. It is a blueprint for a Theocratic America. Bad enough, but my state's platform is FAR from being the nation's worst. THAT dubious "honor" goes hand's-down to the state platform of the home state of our appointed President: Texas. And the state platforms directly impact the composition of the national platform... the party's GOALS for America, at the national level. What would life be like under theocratic rule? Look at Iran. IT'S been one for decades. Particulary from the time that Ayatollah Khomeini returned, over 20 years ago. So it's an Islamic theocracy. Apples and oranges, compared to one purporting to be Christian, right? Wrong. The reason that all aspects have become infected from pillar to post and from stem to stern like a computer full of worms and viruses is thanks entirely to a very real and do***entable cult that's about as Christian as Big Brother's three slogans were truthful, in George Orwell's "1984." And the goals of today's Republican party are VERY Orwellian. Horror movies are like Bugs Bunny cartoons when making an ****ogy of the Repoublican Party's cultists and their goals, vis-a-vis the actual teachings of Christ. America as a pseudo-Christian theocracy would be NO less nightmarish than the Islamic theocracy of Iran. That background having been provided, I hope that you will visit the following website, and get ALL of the details. And it would be best to be sitting down when you do it: It's very authoratative, provided by Cornell University, and is fully do***ented in great detail. http://www.4religious-right.info/ And to see the full text of the Republican Party Platform for the State of Texas, in Adobe format, go here... and see for yourself: http://www.txdemocrats.org/texasgopplatform.pdf If we, the people, allow this innocuous and behind-the-scenes, sneaky but steady march toward theocracy to continue unimpeded, it may soon reach the point where even the U.S. Supreme Court will be able to defend us from that unspeakable disaster. ESPECIALLY if any more "conservatives" make it into the Court. Since TODAY'S conservatives tend to be anything BUT compassionate. -- Craig Chilton xanadu222@mchsi.com |

Yes. And what's really scary is the capability of the RRR's influence from the lower levels, if they continue unchecked, to infect and devastate the national platforms -- especially that of the Republican Party. People NEED to realize that goldwater was NEVER an extremist... but that *today's* Republican Party is very MUCH becoming extremist. Good for you, Charles!! Keep up the good fight!! -- Craig Chilton xanadu222@mchsi.com |
