Million Mom March president Mary Leigh Blek provided the following
testimony to the United Nations on July 16 2001 (per the UN's statement
at that time):

MARY LEIGH BLEK, Million Mom March: The gun lobby has been talking for
40 minutes. During that time, 40 people have died from the use of small
arms and light weapons in this country. That figure, not the statement
of those representatives, is further proof that this country is at war.

An obvious whopper, noting that this adds up to more than 500,000 deaths
per year. Since I and others have drawn attention to this whopper for
two or more years, the MMM's friends at the United Nations have decided
to emulate the pig in "Animal Farm" who kept rewriting the Constitution
as needed:

In Press Release DC/2792, issued on 16 July 2001, the statement of MARY
LEIGH BLEK, Million Mom March, on page 10 should read, as follows:

MARY LEIGH BLEK, Million Mom March: The gun lobby has been talking for
40 minutes. During that time, 40 people around the world have been shot
dead with the weapons they promote and sell. That figure, not the
statement of those representatives, is further proof that this country
is at war.

It's not a very good coverup, noting that the second sentence
(unchanged) is not consistent with the first.

"No animal shall sleep on a bed WITH SHEETS."

"No animal shall kill any other animal WITHOUT CAUSE."

"No animal shall drink alcohol TO EXCESS."

"Oceania is at war with Eurasia" [messenger runs in, hands speaker a
note] "EASTASIA. Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia."

This is the same organization, by the way, that is pressing an
anti-Israel and anti-U.S. agenda. They've just been caught with their
hand in the till (or else they were incredibly careless for misreporting
Ms. Blek's statement, although it's hard to believe she didn't review it
at the time)-- either way, the UN is not to be trusted.

There ought to be a way to use this to discredit the United Nations and
suggest that it actually revises history that is not to its credit (or
its allies, in this case the gun control movement).

Come to think of it, I wonder whether privately-owned small arms kill 1
person per minute around the world.
