You can't do that, and I can't find any evidence that you ever could.
I can't be arsed to trace it though the source at the moment, but I
don't think that the ESQL connection name is sent to the back-end.

I thought I remembered a DBMSINFO('session_description'), but at the
moment I'm not seeing it in the dbmsinfo table.

(For the curious, the definitive list of DBMSINFO keywords known at
server startup is the dbms_info_table in $ING_SRC/back/scf/scd/scdinit.c.
It's fed to ADF as part of the adg_startup call.)


That works.

There's also a connection description, which is not the same thing
as the connection name if I remember rightly. I think the description
goes to the back-end and you should be able to get at it somehow.
Perhaps IMA, if not via dbmsinfo.
