Default NetBSD-hpcmips 1.6.2: Can't locate package directory

I am trying to install NetBSD on a MobilePro 770 using one CF card as
an installation medium (mounted as wd0), and another CF card as the /
directory (mounted as wd1). The sysinst program starts out okay,
detects both cards, and formats wd1, but when I try to extract the
packages from wd0, sysinst says that it "can't find a directory
containing the NetBSD packages" or something similar. I have tried
accessing this card as a local directory (psdboot.exe and netbsd.gz
are both launched from this card) and as an unmounted filesystem, and
I get the same error message every time.

Can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be
appreciated, as do***entation on this topic is quite scarce.
