Default 3.3 box crashes on traffic

Hi NG!

My webserver seems to be very unstable since I added new hardware (epox
mainboard with nforce2), I assume the nic (D-Link 550TX) using the ste
driver is the troublemaker. The box crashes at a high load of ftp and/or
http requests. I don't know how to track the crash, maybe it comes to a
kernel panic? how can i find out? I will replace the nic as soon as
possible, hope it will get better then.

kindly,
andreas

Default 3.3 box crashes on traffic

Make sure you have /etc/sysctl.conf

ddb.panic=1 # 0=Do not drop into ddb on a kernel panic

(check with 'sysctl ddb.panic', should print '= 1') then wait for the
next crash, walk to the box' local console, and look.
If you have a ddb> prompt, read the messages printed, trace, and write
everything on a piece of paper, then post it

I will do so when I'm at the box again, but for now it's to far away.
I've set dbb.panic=0 to ensure that the machine won't stay offline.
