What do you have to have to view that? In Blaxxun Contact, nothing shows. Is
it because it's an ElevationGrid?

Is shows with Blaxxun Contact.
It is white material with ground picture as a texture over it.... and the
picture is quite large. You should wait a while untill it loads.

Ah, here we are. In my browser's status bar it tells how much is loaded.
Takes 2 or 3 seconds to load, says End 100%, and does nothing. Then minutes
laters, the model appears. Why does this happen? I guess it takes a while to
calculate the image onto the surface.

It might be. My guess was it's because of size of the picture, but since
grid is comlicated adjusting may take time.

I have corresponded with the web site manager about this. Apparently
it is the size of jpg overlay which is 480kb that is causing the no
display in Cortona and MS IE 6.0, although it seems to load fine in
NN 7.0 and CosmoP. Using a smaller resampled overlay image of 247kb,
it works in Cortona and MS IE 6.0. I have corresponded with the
website manager. They are aware of the problem.

What is the size in pixels ?
Common limits of VRML browsers, graphicsdrivers and graphicscards are
currently about 1024x1024 or 2048x2048.

I think, currently it is not very wise to use something bigger than
1024x1024.

A lot of browser rescale this to 1024x1024 or 2048x2048.
Rescaling is a lengthly process and often break the quality of the bitmap.

Hi

yes thats a bad size
1024*1024 would be better because it would avoid the re-scaling.

One can go to higher resolutions e.g. 2k / 4k depending on Card,
in Contact one need to ********ly allow this via Preferences->Performance
or Browser.setOption
For performance improvements (in local setups) I would recommend using DDS
DXT 1 compressed textures with precomputed MIP-MAPS. DDS Images can be
easily created using
the NVIDIA Photopshop DDS plugin.
