Default Can Injoy be configured for ISP-supplied (i.e. dynamic) DNS's?

My ISP, AT&T Worldnet, did something to their system fairly recently
that pretty much renders connections useless (sometimes) to many users
(judging by complaints posted on a Worldnet Newsgroup). THe symptom is
either a long or an infinite stall when one enters a web address or
clicks a URL link.

Worldnet now dynamically assigns DNS's. I was told to set up my dialer
appropriately. But how? Is this possible? Dynamic IP address can be
entered e.g. "0.0.0.0" but how about DNS?

Don't use their ^%#^%# DNS's.
I don't use my ISP's DNS's.
I've located DNS's (RESOLVERS) that ping and traceroute show to
be *A LOT* closer than my ISP's. That's what I drop into my tables here.

Well, I *have* to do *something*. The hardcoded DNS's I'm currently
using ... they usually STALL. Usually but not always. I never know,
when I log in, if I'll be able to surf or get mail. It's a crap shoot.
When stalled, can't surf anywhere except the ISP's home page and I can't
access mail.

Open the PPPOE-Settings notebook, page "TCP". Enter "0.0.0.0" in both
DNS entry fields and an empty string (nothing) in the entry field for
the "Domain". Works fine with German T-Kom's dynamic DNS, should work
with any other provider as well.

(My "IP-Address" is 0.0.0.0 and the "Netmask" is 255.255.255.0)

Gruess Gott, Bernhard. It seems a current version of Injoy allows the
procedure you describe, but I'm still using Rel. 1.0, the do***ent for
which does not describe a procedure for host supplied DNS. I did try it
anyway and it seemed not to fix the stall problem.

In the mean time, my ISP offered two DNS strings for me to try, and they
work very well. I picked up a later Injoy from Hobbes though, just is
case the new DNS strings stops working.

Danke!

I'm glad to hear you've solved this problem. Version 1.0 (1st of July
2000) is running on my machine, as well. It is the version which came
along with the betatest software for the InJoy firewall.

You're welcome!
