Default Can't access floppy or cd-rom drives

If you have your windows disc to hand, "reinstalling" over the top of
your existing install will often fix weird and wonderful problems without
losing any settings (in theory) - if you have one of the crap system
restore discs though - beware - they wipe the lot in many cases...

Have you tried using any registry cleaners on there to make sure there`s
no unused crap lying around that might be causing a problem ?

I`ve used easycleaner (free) for a couple of years without any problems
on the registry - i`m not sure how other functions it has might work.

I have had problems with my floppy drive for awhile. It would hang my
system if I used it drag-n-drop, but worked OK most of the time if I
used it in a DOS window. A few days ago, event that stopped working,
and accessing the drive to get a directory would hang the system.
Tried a number of things - deleting the device, re-installing the driver
(was unable to find any drivers on the 'Net,) - nothing helped.

I just came out to this website for the first time to ask about it, and
saw your message. Last night I reloaded Win98 over my old version, and
the drive works. Thanks! I didn't know it could do that, I thought I'd
have to scratch/install.

Thanks a lot!
