Default GCC Installation Problem

Hi,

I have been installed Solaris8 for Intel on my pc. Now I am trying to
install the utility make, but I can not install it because I have to build
it. So I need a cc compiler. I tried to install the GCC GNU compiler with
command: ./configure --program-suffix=-2.95.2. I get the output this
command:
Configuring for a i386-pc-solaris2.8 host.
Created "Makefile" in /temp/gcc-3.2.3 using "mh-frag"
../configure: cc: not found
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

I do not know what is a working compiler, and what is the value of this
environment variable.

Any ideas or hint to solve this problem??? I'll appreciate the help.

Thanks in advance.

Manmohan
