Default How to update TCPIP

I have been trying to get the latest version of LimewirePro 4.4.9.11 or
beta 4.9.22 to work with Golden Code and Innotek's latest javas without
success. I found a site that advises upgrading to the latest update of
TCPIP 8708, I'm at 8705.

I should be able to get it from my PA subscription but what do I look
for how do I install it? Is PA the place to get it or is it at another
place?

Back to Limewire. I tried all the tricks offered in the newsgroups to
make it work but I still get this error, no matter what advice I follow:

"LimeWire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a
firewall program blocking LimeWire's access to the internet or loopback
connections on the local machine. Please allow LimeWire access to the
internet and restart Limewire."

I don't have a firewall, just a dialup.

TIA,

Mark

You should be looking for WR08708 (the stack) and UN02334 (the
applications). Both come with inf files that contain installation instructions.

Default How to update TCPIP

Sir:

WAG: Enable loopback interface in the TCPip configuration program or
add 'ifconfig lo 127.0.0.1' to the setup.cmd file in \MPTN\BIN. Also
add 'SET HOSTID=LOCALHOST' to config.sys. It might not hurt either to
add 'SET USE_HOSTS_FIRST=1' to config.sys and have a host file in the
\etc folder that has:
---
192.168.1.101 blackkinght
192.168.1.100 greendragon
127.0.0.1 localhost
192.168.1.102 fair-damsel
192.168.1.103 wizard
---
The 127.0.0.1 line is the important one. The others just relate local
machines's names to IP. Change or leave out lines as suit your setup.

Your PA account should get you WR08708 at the usual place.

PS. You can have a firewall even on dial-up. FX Communications sells
such a product in their Injoy line.

I checked and these were done. Also

I added these to the config.sys because they weren't there.

and have a host file in the

This file was in the etc folder but called "hosts" and included the 127
.... as
a single entry. I left it like that.

I have to laugh here. I spent about 90 minutes trying to track the
latest MPTS down. I did find an url on the IBM site describing
the file and offering a download button. The download button
took me to Lenovo and said nothing about the updated Fixpak
but wanted the type laptop I was using. I'm not using a laptop.

I tried a couple of OS2 websites and the IBM urls they offered
took me back to the same page, same Lenovo laptop request.
I tried the old SWC catalog urls but they are defunct.

I try to download every update as they come out and I checked
my downloads and found WR08708 but not sure if it is the right
set of files because the inf file says:

IBM MPTS LAN Adapter and Protocol Support FixPak WRx8708
(IBM PTF WR08708)

The following versions of MPTS are suitable for applying this FixPak.
This FixPak can be applied to:

- IBM Warp Server for e-Business
- IBM Warp Server for e-Business Convenience Pak 1 or 2
- WorkSpace On-Demand v2.0 clients with UN02200, UN02205 or UN02206
installed.

I'm running Warp 4.52. Is that the same as Warp Server for e-Business
Convenience Pak 1 or 2? If it isn't, will it work any way?

If this isn't the right set of files and someone knows where IBM is now
hiding the correct version, please respond with an url. If anyone
has the file package I need for Warp 4.52 and wants to trade for
the Lan version I'll do that too.

I see Chuck says "You should be looking for WR08708 (the stack)
and UN02334 (the applications). Both come with inf files that contain
installation instructions."

I'm now looking for UN02334. Is that somewhere at IBM too or can
I get it elsewhere or should it be in the WR08708 package. That
package does have a WR08708.inf file, no UN...

I have the 30-day trial version and it looks a little complicated. Once
I'm updated I'll give it a try.

TIA

Mark

OS2User shriek:

Yes.

UN 02234 is a different package than WE 08708 and should be available
via IBM PA.
