I'm getting the following errors in the log when attempting to restart the
engine after the server crashed. It appears it gets to a point in the
recovery and wants to restart itself.

Looks like you have something still holding on to a shared memory connection
to the old instance of the database.

This used to happen to us when the server would crash and a dbaccess or isql
session was left hanging around.

Make sure that all old processes which had a shared memory connection to the
machine are kill (reboot if you have to) and then restart. Should come up
then.
