most useful / popular code browsing utility on Linux

Hi
I am newbie to Linux development (RH 9) and am trying to find a good
code browsing utility
The only one that seems feasible at this stage is source code
navigator IDE by RedHat
ctags / gtags also seem to be good but am not sure how many features
they have
eg . class hierarchy info etc
any info on this will be useful
