number of devices

I have unix disk with 5 GB size.
I need 3 GB of data and 1 GB of transaction log
What will be better to create:
6 device of data with 0.5gb size and 2 device of log with 0.5gb size or
3 device of data with 1 gb size and 1 device of log with 1gb size.

If you only have the one disk, its pointless creating more than
one device for data and one for log.

need to
add two more device.
My question is should i add the two device or should i backup database
drop database create the database with less devices (with big size)
and restore.
My performence is critical so what option should i use?

Since its only the one disk, performance will be consistent.

It might be better to backup the database and recreate and
restore. With only the one disk, you'll more than likely to
run out of partitions than space. When you recreate the db
just be careful of the layout with respect to data and logs
becoming intermixed.
