udl files not work
Try this to restore *.udl file's link to Data Link Dialog Box:
1. In Windows Explorer, click "Tools->Folder Option" (it is for Win2K &
WinXP. if you use Win98, click "View->Folder Option" and other steps are not
exactly the same, but similar);
2. Click "File Types" tab, in File extension listbox, scroll down to UDL.
(If you do not find it, click "New" to create a "UDL" file extension, and
specify its associated file type as "Microsoft Data Link" by clicking
"Advanced>>" button on "Create New Extension" dialog box, then OK to go back
to "Folder Option" dialog box.). Select UDL extension in the list box and
click "Advanced" button;
3. Now you see Edit File Type dialog box. if there is no icon shown for the
UDL file type, click "Change Icon..." to bring up "Change Icon" dialog box,
then click "Browse..." to navigate to "C:\Program Files\Common
Files\system\ole db\oledb32.dll", OK and OK to accept selected icon.;
4. If there is no item in "Actions" list box, click "New..." button. In
"New Action" dialog box, enter "Open" in "Action:" text box. In Appication
used to perform action:" text box, enter "RUNDLL32.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\SYSTEM\OLEDB~1\OLEDB32.DLL,OP ENDSLFILE %1", OK, OK AND
OK. You are done. Note: if there is "Open" action in "Actions" list box,
select it and click "Edit..." button and make sure "Application used to
perform action" text box has above info entered ("RUNDLL32.exe........%1").
5. Double-click an *.udl file to verify that "Data Link" dialog box is
brought up.
