Default SQl query primer

HI,

I am using VB6 / OLEDB to access a dataflex database using the connx ODBC
driver.

most of the time im fine with it, however, i am having trouble formating sql
queries when i want to join more than two tables. is there a primer /
tutorial available or could someone give an example that
might show me the syntax.

i have tried the query in access which works, then copying the sql string
into vb, which doesnt!

i would be eternally grateful for any help!

Any book on Access should give you what you need. Can you supply an
example of a query that works in Access, but not in VB?

He's using a dataflex back end from VB, not an Access one.

I am unfamiliar with Dataflex and Connx, but I took a look at the
following page:

http://www.connx.com/products/connx/Connx%208.5%20UserGuide/sql_join.htm

and noticed that they ********ly included the word OUTER in their SQL
syntax. They also used curly braces instead of parentheses around
their join clause. Maybe that's the difference between the Dataflex
syntax and Access syntax. I suppose you could also try the *= style
of syntax, but personally I've always preferred ******** joins.

There's always slight differences like this between different database
back ends that you need to keep an eye out for.
