HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) -- President Robert Mugabe's government
announced plans Tuesday to nationalize all Zimbabwean farmland after
forcing more than 5,000 white farmers off their properties in an
often-violent redistribution program.

like pointing at Malaysian Rugby team as an example of how Rugby
"isn't a great sport"...

WWII hauled the US out of the Depression. Study the recovery of Germany
under the National Socialists versus the recovery of the US under the
Roosevelt Socialists.

who then are incapable of understanding that hard work and not magic
made the land so productive, hunger and conflict will increase.

The people who are being attacked and dispossessed also live within
the borders of "the nation". I don't think they are getting much say
in the matter. What particularly makes it someone's nation? Holding
the power of the State? Is Mugabe the nation?

You probably wouldn't be as complacent if you were one of those having your
land nationalized. The Cowboys aren't about to give the land back to the
Indians anytime soon; USA, Rhodesia, and Kenya could have used a bit more
of the US "**** them if they can't take a joke" spirit.

The power of the state comes from the people.
Mugabe IMO is a fair reflection of the mentality of the people en masse.
So what do you want to do, invade it for their own good?

They've made their bed, and now they can die in it until whatever remnants are
left are so pissed off they get rid of him. And if they still haven't learned a
lesson from it (as most of Africa seems conspicuously unable to do) then tough
shit. Evolution in action.
