HSC <-> Cher...? Weird to see all the twitter about HSC. Read the
material some time back. Struck me as a perfect reflection of what I
knew/know of Ford Johnson's relationship with the world - - to the
extent that I observed it. A non-marketing marketing vibe around much
of it.

I'd rather sit down and talk with David Lane any day of the week. Not
because I have anything against Ford, but because David's perspective
on life is much more interesting to me. I'm not into upper case
letters. Faqir Chand and the stream of consciousness that David valued
the last time I communicated with him is incomparable. What's the
point. Don't quite know myself but the back and forth about HSC seems
oddly senseless.

I will say that there are times when an original idea is 'taken' and a
weird hybrid consciousness comes out of it that you can't quite fully
attribute to the original sources - may not even be positively hybrid,
might just be quirky hybrid and quirky interesting, and possibly even
quirky inspirational. I don't find that in the HSC stuff, it just
feels like the signal is degrading (in the technical sense...) and the
signal to noise ratio ain't cutting it. For someone else it might
sound like divine music. I hear some other fine music and don't jump
to conclusions where it's coming from or what it is ;-), but it sure
ain't HSC.

So what's the big deal about HSC that seems to cause such a shit storm
here? Are true-believers upset about it? Detractors think it is great
or do they recognize it as just another clone implant from the pod
people? What gives?

And did the guy post as Cher or is someone just trying to 'dress him
down' or is that gown.

Hi Spark,

I'm not so sure it's a shit storm, more like a half-flush, but a few things
come to mind:

1) Ford refused to dialog at a.r.e. period, and then a couple of weeks later
a computer in his HCS home office sent an anonymous post into a.r.e. in
defense of Ford's appeal to the Supreme Court for $1 million in unpaid
taxes.

2) The FIRST review about his book at Amazon.com, written by someone calling
themself Ford D Johnson was there for 3-4 months when Ford declared on his
HCS bulletin board that he never knew it was there, didn't know who posted
it and then went on to suggest it was probably planted there by ECKists
intent on discrediting him.

THe review said that the author had given the "reviewer" a pre-release copy
of the book to read, which is why it was the first review........... it was
there BEFORE you could actually buy the book.

As far as I know, Ford still holds to the view it must have been an ECKist
plot. <G>

3) Ford was swept off his feet by the journal of a 2nd initiate

4) Ford was spamming ECKist discussion lists and private email addresses
culled from ECKist email address lists prior to the release of the book.

Nothing was said that the book was a critical ****ysis of Eckankar, instead
this prmotional material was counched in terms that sounded as if the book
was written under the direction and approval of Sri Harold. ECKists were
offered the opportunity of pre-ordering THE book.

They forgot to also mention that Ford had left the teaching.

5) Ford has been informed that the single source of the rumour that "gail
said Paul made it all up" is unreliable. He bases the inclusion of this
comment in the open letter to Harold and in his book upon the singular ng
post by a semi-anonymous lonterm detractor WITHOUT any verification or
research into it's credibility.

This poster, a chap called David Parker from Arizona had at the time of
printing the book been proven to have been making a number of blatant false
accuseations.

One was about Brad Stieger. Doug contacted Brad asked if the story was true,
and Brad said it was ALL lies and that he had never heard of the guy making
the claims that he knew Brad personally.

Ford has refused to correct this "unsubstanciated rumour" he presents as a
FACT on his website. Such things present ed to him by Doug Marman are a
minor detail that doesn't change the overall thrust of his book.

So says the trained lawyer anyway.

Is that enough issues, besides the fact he talks down to people on the
bulletin boards and is full of his own self-importance and relevance in the
life of students of ECKANKAR?

Thanks for the summary. The statement below is the one that resonates with
me and sums it best.

Of course when read slowly and with full recognition of one's own
diamond-like unduality <wink> the same thing could also be said about many
statements made by the Eckankar Masters ;-).
