The return of Christ - post one (heaven salvation angels sword symbol)
While skydiving off of the Empire State Building on
Tue, 3 Aug 2004 20:31:32 -0400, "Og" <Og@bashan.org>
screamed out:
That is not true. I have stated that Jesus DID come as
He promised.
As for dominion of THIS world, He has already
conquered. But the key question is, why do you, like
the Jews who couldn't get the message then, look for a
physical kingdom? Especially considering the words of
our Lord and Saviour?...
Luke 17:20-21
20) And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the
kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said,
The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21) Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for,
behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Now as for the when, note the words of our Lord...
Matthew 16:27-28
27) For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his
Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every
man according to his works.
28) Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here,
which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son
of man coming in his kingdom.
Note Jesus here speaks of judgment and says that some
STANDING THERE would not die before it happened.
Now, do you believe Him, or did He lie?
Wait, wait, wait. You said a day for US to look
forward to. Paul wrote to the people in Corinth, who
were alive at the time of it's writing let them know it
was something for THEM to look forward to. You try to
magically skip 2,000 years here.
You also assume it is a physical appearing of Jesus
Christ Himself, but that isn't the way the Bible uses
that language, when speaking of judgment.
Ezekiel 32:7-8
7) And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the
heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover
the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her
light.
8) All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark
over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the
Lord GOD.
15) When I shall make the land of Egypt desolate, and
the country shall be destitute of that whereof it was
full, when I shall smite all them that dwell therein,
then shall they know that I am the LORD.
That is a PAST, FULFILLED prophecy about Egypt. Now
tell me, did the Sun literally go dark? Or was it a
picture language?
As for the Lord coming on the clouds, note this one
about Egypt...
"The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a
swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols
of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart
of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it." - Isaiah 19:1
As I said, this is past, fulfilled prophecy.
Now, did the Lord appear in the sky, riding on a cloud?
Or is the cloud used as a symbol of God's presence?
Did the idols in Egypt move at God's presence? Or was
he speaking figuratively?
Did the heart of Egypt actually melt? Or was he
speaking figuratively?
The texts put the coming of the Lord at a specific
place in the New Testament. Read the texts carefully.
Matthew 24, Revelation, etc.. They talk about Judaea
and Jerusalem. Destruction occurred in 70 A.D..

"Were they ashamed when they made an abomination?
They were not at all ashamed, nor did they know
to blush. So they shall fall among those who fall.
At the time I visit them, they shall be cast down,
says Jehovah." - Jeremiah 6:15
"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God:" - Ephesians 6:17 /
