Default Drums Keep Pounding a Rhythm to My Brain (mind way)

...and the beat goes on... and the beat goes on....

Repetitive patterns have an effect on the brain and mind causing it to
synchronize with the waves and rhythms. This can happen in Nature in a
natural way while it can happen in other parts of the world artificially.
One should be wary of the effects of repetition as it is the tool of
propagandists and advertisers everywhere. Of course one could also use
repetition as a positive force to remember and to preserve those thing that
are actually important.

This choice, though obvious, is sometimes lost on those with a different
agenda.

Default Drums Keep Pounding a Rhythm to My Brain (trance vision spirituality consciousness)

How would you view the psychedelic music scene within that context
Searles? I'm just curious ...
I was dragged out to a psychedelic trance event last night and while on
one level there was simply a lot of out of it people jumping around, on
another level there was an almost tribal joy and connectivity
underpinning the experience for many people.
I didn't fail to notice the pure acceptance of every person as an
individual, or the deep interest in spirituality and reaching for
experience, expanding the consciousness and embracing connections.
It made me curious so I've been looking at a few sites and this one
really struck me as interesting, especially the first three words -
connect, create, celebrate.

Any thoughts?

Default Drums Keep Pounding a Rhythm to My Brain (able ritual sense space bit)

<snip>

I'd say that a trip is a trip, but that it's much better to make the journey
through mind/brain generated chemicals than through anything that directly
works on body chemistry. I was in a rock band eons ago and the music was
able to transport us to another space where only the nuances of the people
playing and the music existed. My wife Deborah was once a ballroom dancer
and she's told me about dancing for 8 to 10 hours just for the experience.
She never got tired and was in an entirely different space. I feel that
this group synchronization of spirit and mind is what is missing at times in
modern Pagan gatherings and some magical workings. However, one needs to be
careful of choosing one's partners in anything so close to the heart's truth.

This sense of tribal joy is what the modern world seems to have stolen from
most folks. It's time to reclaim our tribes.

Group activities can sometimes help. This is a bit off the topic but
associated: I have to say that one thing to be said for ritual nudity is the
stripping away of inhibitions while also maintaining a certain individuality
without pretension. I'm not real big on such things myself but when I've
been involved in such rituals, it's been more spiritual than physical. One
thing I miss about the 60's and the hippie movement is that loss of
innocence and acceptance that existed within it and its music. I'm glad to see it reemerging.

I'll check out the link and post about it tomorrow. Thanks for your own
thoughts and sharing of experience.

Default Drums Keep Pounding a Rhythm to My Brain (life way don)

<snip>

Firinne,

I looked at the website and it is an interesting window into modern day
counter-culture. IMO the site itself needs to be fleshed out as many of the
links are "under construction." It is an interesting place however (reminds
me of a coffee shop). All types of people and folks are linked there with
their common cause appearing to be art and a concern for the life of the
planet.

In cases like this, I still think being there in real life is the best way
to have the experience. The marvels of the internet have not yet advanced to
the point where one gets all of the various sight, sounds, smells, tastes
and feelings that go into the symbiosis of such a diversity. That's why
folks go to the events. :-)

I definitely think that sites and even newsgroups are great ways of posting
notice as to where to go and what one can expect (if not the unexpected)
when arriving on the scene. Someday there will be a way to don one's cyber
connections and hook directly into a multitude of simultaneous experiences
but so far the world of cyberspace seems limited to one thing after another.

I hope that someone will take a digital camera on your trip along the Druid
Way. I'd love to put actual images to the word pictures that have been
conjured up for me so far.

Yeah, I noticed that too .. they play all over the world though and
often don't see home in between gigs so I can see why it is that way.

Yes, that's something that really appeals to me hence the sharing of the
link ... that and I'm trying to turn you all into ravers of course

Indeed! Ross from Liquid Connective will be playing a set online
tomorrow night though, so if you fancy a listen head over to
http://www.psystream.net/ at about 8pm.
It'd be really interesting to be able to discuss the music with someone
on a more than simple "technical appeal" level and you know I always
love hearing your thoughts Searles

Yes, I love the events listings and the fact we now have online access
to live music ... there's nothing better than being able to hit the PC
on and experience that, especially for someone as bored with their music
collection as I am!

No chance of you joining us for the walk then Searles? (That may be a
silly question, you could be based in Egypt for all I know but I thought
I'd ask!)
I'll be taking mine along, and I'm more than happy to share the images
afterwards

Default Drums Keep Pounding a Rhythm to My Brain (image bit)

<snip>

I may miss the set as my wife Deborah will be joining me here in Orlando,
Florida for a week or so. She gets here this evening and our anniversary is the 20th. :-)

The Internet is a doorway to the world in more ways than one. I hope that
the $100 PC program that MIT started is successful. They're trying to get
PC's into the hands of kids in 3rd world countries to even out the high-tech
divide a bit. I image that a lot of these PC's will get their share of music
and videos on them. :-)

I'd love to walk those hills and ways but right now an ocean and oceans of
money separate me from them. Closer to home, we do have our own nature
trails on the local "mountain" (in Alabama and a wonderful "bat cave" just
down the road... guano away! Wear a hat.

I'm looking forward to the pictures and the description of the
walk/experiences.

I missed it too, I think it may have been cancelled or I may have read
the date wrong. Hmm, confusing!

It would be nice for every culture in the world to have access to each
other wouldn't it, so much broadening of horizons and shared experience ...

Sounds fantastic Searles

It'll be a pleasure to share them, I'm really looking forward to it ...
