Default "old" LCMS hymnal vs. Green multi-synod one

Just wondering about people's thoughts about the older red LCMS hymnal vs.
the newer Green multi-synodal one used a lot.

Hymn texts, musical settings, liturgy, phraseology, etc.

Thanks

Default "old" LCMS hymnal vs. Green multi-synod one (church)

The green one is not endorsed by the LCMS, although I know of at
least one LCMS church that does use it.

Prefer the red Hymnal. Solid on the Scriptures.

Default "old" LCMS hymnal vs. Green multi-synod one (church office year worship)

As I understand it the LCMS was involved with the development of the
book but when the final version came out there were some errors in it
and the LCMS did NOT vote to use it.
So, technically speaking any LCMS church using the green hymnal
is using worship materials NOT approved by synod and is therefore
in violation of the LCMS constitution and/or bylaws.

If we get a conservative in office next year this COULD be an issue
although I believe there are MUCH bigger ones to be addressed first.

Seeing how the sainted President Barry didn't do anything about the green
hymnals, I doubt a Pres. Daniel Preus would either. I still would like to
know what exactly about the '41 TLH needs to be changed. It seems pretty
near perfect to me. Since the LCMS has apparently decided to adopt the ESV,
use its language in place of the KJV, but leave the tunes and everything
else the same.

Default "old" LCMS hymnal vs. Green multi-synod one (religion office scriptures way process)

Yeah, to fix it, they should purchase new hymnals for our tiny yet
poor parish.
SOmehow, I think if they made a stink about it, they might be
respoded with a big, fat, juicy rasberry. :P

Me too, like the idea of someone being non-baptist, reformed or some
other non-Lutheran who would run for LCMS office and use terms like
"Conservative" or "Liberal". Those terms belong in politics, not
religion.

My pastor teaches that we either follow the Lutheran confessions
(which are in line with the scriptures) or you don't. He says that
using political terms only allows for heresey in one way or another.
(and inevitably "DOWN" in MY humble opinion)

I must say that I am in agreement with this thought process. Either we
agree with our Lutheran confessions or we don't. (I happen to AGREE
with them).

God's peace to you, brother, --Brandt

And therein lies the problems behind why we are where we are.
If I recall the '41 TLH is the RED hymnal. No? I have been talking
about the green one. I'd love nothing better than to stick to the good
old red one. And I'm only 40 so it has little to do with change.
