So gee, it's Stone Age **** instead of an astronomical calendar. How
depressing.

Did they run out of steam before they could build the corresponding male
genitalia in the next county over, mayhaps?

Default Stonehenge Depicts Female Genitalia, Researchers Say (theory time)

Not much new to this idea.

The Stonehenge/Megalith connect to symbolic female genitalia connection theory.
Was first preposed by the late famed anthropologicist/archeologist Marija
Gimbutas as early as the mid 1970s. Of course most archeologists at the time
laughed at the notion of a Goddess based pre-Indo-European culture in europe.

You can find more on her theory in Language of the Goddess.

Default Stonehenge Depicts Female Genitalia, Researchers Say (case control area don)

w
And still do. She proved her case about the existence of what could
reasonably (unless one insists that word derivation must control
meaning) of a pre-Indo-European civilisation), and there are many female
figurines to be found. But the "Goddess based" notion, and some of her
other notions, are mostly rejected by archaeologists, for both good and bad reasons.

Stonehenge was not an area of her expertise, I don't know if she ever
went there, certainly she did no work there. On some matters outside her
own area of work, she got things badly wrong.

Except that Stonehenge was built by men - and it can't be anatomically
correct as they have no idea where the clitoris is!

Default Stonehenge Depicts Female Genitalia, Researchers Say (altar life)

LOL! I think the assumption that the altar stone represents the clitoris is
perhaps a little off, but the rest seems a valid idea. IIRC there have been
lots of markings on stone etc that are believed to represent the female
reproductive system - basing the circles on the same patterns would seem to
be logical.
