Default The Bible (bible)

Good post. I hope those who use the expression "Word of God' when quoting
verses from the Bible as a slogan in despise and contempt and to judge
others will learn a lesson.

Default The Bible (authority)

To base your life on a "feeling" is pretty frivolous, don't you think?

You feel that the Bible is the final authority, but what does that mean? It
means *you* are the final authority, because you decide what the Bible
means.

If you were to approach this soberly, you would try to put together
arguments, pro and con, as to why and why not the Bible should be the final
authority.

When someone starts believing that "God left us a Bible to guide oursleves",
many corollary mistakes ensue.

I'm not sure anyone really sees the bible as the "final authority" on how to
live our lives. We use human reason to sort out those things that were
clearly laws, customs and advice pertinent to the culture in which the text
was written, but rather absurd when applied to today's world.

I have considered stoning my son to death for disobedience, as suggested in
Leviticus, but decided that was an inappropriate response.

I admit to feeling a bit guilty when wearing a polyester blend, but not
because of a prohibition against mixed fabrics found in scripture, but
because polyester tends to have a cheap sheen to it.

I would sometimes prefer to exclude women in their menstual cycle from the
community, but this is not because of the biblical command. It is based on
my experience of PMS and the fact that I am a recovering male chauvenist.

I would prefer folks not get divorced, but I can't say I can look to the
scriptures for guidance, as it seems the authors could not agree among
themselves, as one claims that Jesus said it is allowed in some instances,
and another claims he said it is never allowed.

I think slavery is a bad idea, even though the scriptures seem to accept it,
as did the Church for many generations.

Being American, I think mixed marriages (mixed ethnic backgrounds) is a good
thing, as it strengthens the genetic pool, even though the bible seems to
frown on such things.

The bible is an authority. Alone, it often seems silent or unclear
regarding things we struggle with today. Without the assistance of
tradition and reason to guide us, we would seem to be in danger of being set
adrift without a map or compass to guide us, and gray skies (read as "finite
human subjectivity") hiding the brilliance of the stars.

"John W" dun ritted:

If

BULLSHIT!

Go back to writing your *** books. I quote ..........

*****************

I am a published, professional writer.

The other is an ***-rated murder mystery.
Would you be interested in buying either novel on-line
for, say, $10?
You would e-mail me your e-mail address,
then mail me a $10 money order (faster for me to cash out than a
check).
Once I am paid, I would e-mail you the novel of your choice,
a few chapters at a time, with the understanding that you are
purchasing a copyrighted work, and you would not distribute it to
anyone else.
You will not find this kind of quality hard-core *** fiction in any
bookstore. You will also not find it anywhere on-line.
I know. I've looked.
Bear in mind that we are talking serious literature here, not merely
"jerk-off" books. These novels contain hard-core ****ing/****ing,
and no doubt you will be jerking off (if so inclined) or grabbing
your ****ing/****ing partner occasionally, but not on every single
page, or in every single chapter.
If you would like to read high-quality, professionally written
fiction, "literature" that is ***-rated,
and you'd be willing to spend a few bucks for it,
please contact me.
In your initial contact, please specify that you are at least 18 years
old. And I will want that in writing with your payment, should you
decide to make a purchase.

=============
I have also over the years written some "stroke" fiction pieces. You
may wish to inquire about some of that. I have several collections of
short
stories, and a short "stroke" fiction novel. I am in process of
"do***enting" my *** life these past 50 years, with about that many
different partners. If you are interested in my *** life history,
mention that as well, although that is definitely a work in progress.

Thanks.

and yet, Thanks Be To The Only True GOD, The Spirit reveals all things for
those who are willing to cast aside their own vain imaginations, or the
imaginations of another, and patiently await revelation..

something about "tribulation working patience" that causes many to give up
'patience' and rush to judgment.

yet there are those who cry unto The Father for help that they might suffer
through the pain so that "patience might work her perfect work", gendering
"experience that rewards them with a real hope that will never put them to
shame".

there is nothing in this world or it's religous sytstems that can take away
such hope, living hope, "the hope of heaven heard in the word of Truth that
is the good news".

yet, patience? where are her advocates? where are those who "wait, wait i
say upon The Only True GOD".

patience is not a desirable virtue for those living in "time", for "time"
and by "time".

may many escape the maddening crowd and take heed unto The Call of The Only
True GOD to:

"Come out of her, MY people......."

come out this wicked, evil world which is running hellbent towards
destruction, and come out of her seductive religious systems that captivate
the time consumed soul, one of which is the pagan harlot that calls herself
'christianity'.

may there be those who would "set their affections on things above", those
who would set their affections on that which is forever. all such will
"redeem the time" because they will no longer will serve time in the prison
that is this world.

there is hope!

peace, even as war rages....... yoodaw

amen.

final authority? always has been, will be and IS The Only True GOD. HE is
Alive and HE yet speaks to HIS Children. communes thru "The Teacher", HIS
Spirit.

the "sincere milk of the word" is needful for babes, yet "strong meat" is
needful to do "good work", HIS work.

as The Messiah, so also His Brethren need bear witness, "the works that i do
are not my works but the works of The Father", "the words that i speak are
not my words but the words of The Father", "i can do nothing of my own
self".

and so as The Messiah, His Brethren also cry unto Their Father, "Father,
YOUR Will, not my will, Be Done".

peace, even as war rages....... yoodaw

Default The Bible (history faith advent books authority)

Fact: There are over 27,000 different "christian" denominations formed since the advent of the advent of sola scriptura.

Fact: The scriptures were not compiled into the form we know as "The Bible" until nearly the 400's AD

Fact: The scriptures are used to prove the Trinitarian understanding of God's nature, and to deny it - all the while BOTH sides claiming to be Enlightened and Guided by The Spirit. At least one side is clearly in error.

1) Education is no guarantee of infallible judgement.
2) Good intentions are no guarantee of infallibility.
3) Scripture nowhere promises that intellectuals, the educated or the good intentioned will be free of error.

Fact: The fallen nature of man is prone to bias, error, and sin. If you don't believe this you haven't been reading the news lately.

Fact: The original authors of "The Bible" did not write in english, french or any other European descendant language. Original books were written in Greek, Aramaic and Hebrew. Therefore, correcting the statement below, you AT LEAST need to be literate in all three of those languages, OTHERWISE... You have to accept as authoratative those translations uopn which you base your faith. You necessarily accept the thought that the truths contained in the origianls have been preserved and passed on to you. Therefore, you accept the authority of EVERYONE through whom those scriptures have been passed - historically, this includes the Roman Catholic Church.

People who quote from the scriptures without knowing the entire history of "the bible" are being hypocrites.

Take a proud man, add one bible, and tell me you don't end up with ignorance and intolerance?
