"Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is the heart of the Lotus Sutra. It is
like the soul of a person. To revere another teaching as it's equal is to be like an empress who is married to two emperors or who secretly commits adultery with a minister or humble servant. It can only be the cause for disaster." The Teaching for the Latter Day Michael: Those spiritual individuals you mentioned about are teachers of the provisional teachings. Sure, there are alot of similarities in Nichiren's teachings, and the Lotus sutra with every religion on Earth. But you are ignoring the Truth of the One Supreme Vehicle. The teachings of all other religions, including other Buddhist religions are provisional in nature. Their purpose is to leading people of lesser capacity to the True teachings of the Lotus Sutra. The Lotus Sutra predicts the advent of Nichiren Daishonin. To practice other religions is like practicing your ABCs, or drinking out of a baby bottle. Sure, those practices were absolutely necessary, at the time. However, since your capacity is on a much higher level, to practice those activities today will fail to bring you any benefit. Two most important points: 1. The Capacity of the people 2. The time The Thus Come One is extinct, as is outlined in the Lotus Sutra. Nichiren Daishonin is the True Buddha in this age of Mappo. In the fifth five hundred year period after Shakyamuni's death, the provisional teachings lost all of their power to save people from their delusions. This indicates the extinction of the Thus Come One (Eternal Buddha), as well as the advent of the True Buddha, Nichiren Daishonin.: The 21st chapter of the Lotus Sutra, the Jinriki (Divine Power) Chapter, states, "After the passing of the Thus Come One, that person will know the causal relations of all the sutras preached by the Buddha and will preach them truthfully in accordance with doctrine. As the sun and the moon skillfully eradicate the dimness, that person will practice in the world and skillfully extinguish the benightedness of the people. In the end he will cause incalculable Bodhisattvas to dwell in the One Vehicle. (Myoho Renge Kyo, Kaiketsu, page 584) How do you equate the practice of zuitai (provisional teachings) with "six perfections?" It has a definite bearing on your practice if you mix those practices with Nam Myoho Renge Kyo, for instance, going to someone else's provisional church to try to gain wisdom or benefit. That is a very serious error. When you practice zuitai in the age of Mappo, you are going contrary to the intent of the Lotus Sutra wherein it states above that a person will come and cause innumerous Bodhisattva's to dwell in the __one vehicle,__ immediately after telling of the passing of the Thus Come One. Chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is the only teaching proper in this evil age of Mappo. It is like the finest medicine that needs no additional help from any other for it to completely cure you of your illness [delusions], that we all suffer here in the Saha world. If you pray to the "eternal" Buddha, or go to your friends church service (weddings or other social events like BINGO is exempted) in addition to chanting to a Gohonzon, does that not show that you do not have full faith in the Gohonzon? If you have full faith in the Gohonzon, praying to a statue or Jesus, or listening to the provisional teachings that they expound will only obstruct your path to enlightenment.. To practice, in any way, provisional teachings is like going by last year's calander. It's effect is similar to putting sand in your rice or poison in wholesome food. "Now, in the Latter day of the Law, neither the Lotus Sutra or the other sutras lead to enlightenment. Only Nam Myoho Renge Kyo can do so. Shakyamuni, Taho, and all the other Buddhas...have so determined. To mix other practices with this Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is a __grave__error__. A lamp will be useless after the sun rises. How can dewdrops be beneficial after the sun rises? ...Good medicine works by itself; there is no need to add other medicine." The teaching for the Latter Day Nam Myoho Renge Kyo has no boundries. Contained within boundries are the provisional Buddhas. You are lending separate merit to the Gohonzon and to some "eternal" Buddha. Amoung all of the "wonderful" teachings you have outlined above, that you consider beneficial ( albeit, in a small way), you have not even mentioned the Gohonzon ONCE. That shows the path that you are on. And it's not towards the correct practice towards the Gohonzon. This shows a total lack of respect for the Gohonzon. How can you say that you follow the Daishonin's teachings when you refuse to cherish and Respect the Gohonzon as he tells us so many times in the Gosho? Why do you even have one (if do you)? Error: All religions are beneficial in some way in the age of mappo. Truth: ONLY the one supreme vehicle (Nam Myoho Renge Kyo) can lead people to enlightenment in the age of mappo. "The practice of the Lotus Sutra is __Shakubuku__, the refutation of provisional doctrines." On practicing the Buddha's Teachings "The true master, Shakyamuni, practiced __Shakubuku__ for the last 8 years of his lifetime." Again, it's: 1. The Time. 2. The Capacity of the people.
