The Book Exchange has left me with 'Only You Can Save Mankind' by the
venerable loveable Terry P. It was first published in 1992. For me, that
makes it Vintage Terry Pratchett. I recognise the in-jokes. The kind
where you have to know the references. You need to know to know it's a
joke. "Pressed wheat extractions treated with sucrose"? It says
"Snappiflakes" on the packet. I love it.

Have you read Johnny & the Dead yet? It's a "must read" IMO, as is Good
Omens. Excellent non-discworld Pratchett-on-form. The mix of Pratchett with
Gaiman is about as good as you could get. I cried with laughter. The thing
about people who write like that is that all the levels are there, at
whatever level the story appears to be pitched.

I do feel a massive re-read coming on. Specially if I have to save the book
token.

Hadn't heard of that one before :: The Amazing Mau(r)ice [from the Book
Exchange] is next on the list.

Ahah! Now you're talking. I use it as part of the lead-in to my talk on
Francis Barrett, the Magus of Marylebone.
