"Offense" meaning "truthful, accurate, and factual." Not to mention
"embarrassing." -=- http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,2714305a10,00.html Man remanded on bail over email to US embassy 03 November 2003 An Auckland man charged with sending an offensive email to the United States Embassy was today remanded on bail until a date that brought a chuckle from his supporters. Bruce William Hubbard, a 37-year-old student, had about a dozen supporters in North Shore District Court and there was ironic laughter in the gallery when the date for his next appearance was set. Hubbard is due back in the court for a status hearing on December 10, which by coincidence is International Human Rights Day. He pleaded not guilty to a charge under the Telecommunications Act that on October 9 "he used a telephone for the purpose of disturbing, with the intention of offending the recipient". The person who opened the message was a staff member at the embassy. "This a freedom of expression issue," Hubbard told the court. "I don't feel I've done anything wrong." Judge David Wilson remanded Hubbard on bail on conditions that included not being within 250m of the US consulate in Auckland. Police prosecutor Sergeant Colin MacDonald had sought a ban of 500m. As it turned out, a typing error in the bail document brought further amusement to Hubbard's supporters as they gathered outside the court after the brief hearing, bearing anti-American placards. The document stated that Hubbard was prevented from being within 250km of the building. Hubbard has admitted sending an email to the US embassy, accusing the US of dropping napalm on children in Afghanistan, 72 invasions of other nations and Nazi tendencies. But he said outside the court that the email was sent in March and he asked why he was charged only last week. He believed the delay was because authorities were waiting until the passing of the new Counter-Terrorism Act. "I have a security expert look at the computer and it just doesn't gel," he said of the October date. He admitted that he had said in the past that "bombing and burning women and children will create people that doubtless will do acts of violence against the Americans". But he said the email he sent contained no threat to the embassy in Wellington or the consulate in Auckland. --- Yes, George W. Bush is an unelected baby killing fascist dictator. Why, if the allegations were untrue, would they be so painful that the
embassy employees turned the matter over to the cops to teach the uppity bounder a lesson? It is standard human nature. Deflect your guilt by punishing the one who reminds you of your crime. It is actually a good sign. At least the embassy people know their country is behaving badly. -- Canadian Mind Products, Roedy Green. Coaching, problem solving, economical contract programming. Scientology did it when a human rights activists posted evidence of the
cult's deadly quack medical frauds. _Written_ evidence that consisted of the criminal enterprise's written policies and procedures. It seems fascist, totalitarian criminals will abuse the system any way they can to try to silence the truth. --- Yes, George W. Bush is an unelected baby killing fascist dictator.
