A memorable story about Michelangelo the Christian
painter. He was a Christian but also gay as demonstrated by his letters and
poems to his lover … something that fundamentalists may not like to hear!
The following extract comes from Vasari’s “Lives of The Artists” (Translated
by George Bull, Penguin; Middlesex, England: 1965; p. 379)
To return to the Last Judgement: Michelangelo had already finished more than
three~fourths of the work when Pope Paul went to see it. On this occasion
Biagio da Cesena, the master of ceremonies and a very high-minded person,
happened to be with the Pope in the chapel and was asked what he thought of
the painting. He answered that it was most disgraceful that in so sacred a
place there should have been depicted all those nude figures, exposing
themselves so shamefully, and that it was no work for a papal chapel but
rather for the public baths and taverns. Angered by this comment,
Michelangelo determined he would have his revenge; and as soon as Biagio had
left he drew his portrait frorn memory in the figure of Minos, shown with a
great serpent curled around his legs, among a heap of devils in h***; nor
for all his pleading with the Pope and Michelangelo could Biagio have the
figure removed, and it was left, to record the incident, as it is today.

No. You may be thinking of Rembrandt who painted himself in “The Raising of
the Cross” as one responsible for Christ’s death. Rembrandt was perhaps the
greatest Christian painter of all time. Read the work of the Christian
artist H R Rookmaaker on this (associated with Francis Schaeffer & L’Abri).
Rembrandt was one of the first to place Christ at the centre of the painting
and thus central to life. He painted many beautiful works on Jesus and
biblical figures. He was a Christian.
What anti-art fear-filled fundamentalist pentes will not like is that
Rembrandt also drew many pictures of old people urinating! He also drew a
couple f****** in “The Great Bed” (…and the woman has four arms!). After
his wife died he lived with the housemaid in a de facto relationship and
never married her. Legalistic fear-filled fundamentalist pentecostals will
not understand the legal and financial reasons for his doing so.
Fear-filled fundamentalist pentes cannot understand such a creative
Christian genius and wrongly assume that Rembrandt was not a Trew Kristyun.
Will Mark Bassett be able to rationally and logically discuss this in
relation to Christianity and the Arts? Of course not!!!! He will attack me
or quote a few pithy little bible verses … the typical fundy pente
response when they are losing the argument! Pentes don’t understand art!!!!

I looked it up, actually it is. Saint Bartholomew (Pietro Aretino) is
holding his skin. It is on the right side of the Christ figure in the center
of the painting. The fact that Michelangelo included himself among the
damned might change the tone of him painting others into the same situation.
Rather than it being, “You are damned!” to “We are all sinners! We are
Snipped Mark’s usual ranting that fundamentalists and pentecostals are

Sorry devil, but false-christian scum are not “Christian”.
We should keep in mind that the Tindall scum are compared
in the Word of God to a dog eating its own vomit.
It is notable how many of trinity cults are making headlines for
their sub-canine morals embracing the “G”ot “A”ids “Y”et crowd.

I wonder if I’ve been “exhaustive” enough here with this brief
