Default Curing snake-skin (snake)

Hi there,

I keep finding dead snakes - I'm in Southern Brazil and they quite
often get hit by cars. I was thinking of finding something to do with
them. Does anyone know how to cure snake skin. I did skin one dead one,
and dried the skin in the sun, but it smelt and became brittle.

I know this is a group for mostly living snakes, and I'm not going out
and killing them, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience.
Thanks,

Mark

I've cured only one pelt and that was from a beaver. I have no clue how
you might tan snake hides, but I bet if you look around the net, they'll
be a crew into some back woods skills that will get you on your way.
Good luck with it. I wouldn't mind hearing back about how you make out.
Cheers! Ian

Yuk! My gopher snake saw it and now he is traumatized. (But I had been
thinking of turning him into a belt when he dies 15 years from now.)

Default Curing snake-skin (iguana)

i had considered getting my iguana, gary, stuffed when he died. instead
i cremated him on the beach with some friends. very heartwarming, i
highly recommend it over burial as a cathartic practice, if you don't
mind the rather grisly work with lighter fluid, newspaper and such.
