Default another iguana color question. (iguana)

i can usually sense when a problem occours and dont go by colour

I have no idea what this stupid line is........

Anyway, Julian is correct in some aspects, but NOT as a general rule. Iguana color is a very big indicator of disease or stress that owners should be aware of.

As Julian indicated, he isn't concerned about his Iggy's when they change or show color changes; which is a combination of his experience with Iguanas and knowing his Iguanas. So to his statement (regarding his Iguanas, he is correct). Many of mine also exhibit color changes, to which I have come to expect from time to time.

BUT

Iguana color changes are a big visual clue to many ailments. Stress, gout, renal failure, hypervitamintosis, Vitamin A deficiencies, injuries, and other ailments/trauma can all be determined by color changes in an Iguana, especially if these color changes are quite drastic and quick to manifest. Unfortunately when many reptiles begin this type of color change, they are in advanced stages of whatever ailment they may be suffering.

I would STRONGLY urge you to take your Iggy to a vet for a thorough examination to rule out any sort of malady.

If you would like additional information in regards to what colors are indicators of certain ailments, let me know as I have a comprehensive list of such.

However, keep in mind that one should not use such guidelines as a means of diagnosis, but rather educational and informational only. Only a vet can determine exact diagnosis.

Hello. Well I think I was just being a paraniod parent. I believe she
is is just starting another shed process. Parts of them do indeed turn a
pale milky color just prior to the shed. If it persists without any
shedding occuring....then I will be very concerned.
my 4 igs are all differant shades, doesnt mean much.

I have never found colour of Igs to be good for illness, stress yes, but mine change all the time thru the year, i can and do usually notice if a nimal is feeling unwell, i knew my male BD was dying a few weeks ago and got home late on and it had died, in the morning i could sense something wasnt right, it was old so at the end of its life, i notice that too with my T's

Also great extra food intake can be a sign of problems too.

I would like to clarify a previous post. After re-reading the opening statement: "I have no idea what this stupid line is" is NOT a reference to Julian's post, but rather a literal statement.

I don't know about the rest of you, but there are annoying black lines to the left of this post, to which I was referring.

Although no one has pointed it out, I did want to clarify that my statement was not a response to Julian nor what he posted as it could sound as if it were.

....and I STILL have no idea what these stupid lines are?

I'm assuming you're using Outlook Express? Go to Tools, Options, Send, "News Sending Format". Make sure "Plain Text" is checked, and in Plain Text Settings, check "Indent the original text with >". Hope that works.
