anybody provided for a large snake in their will? (bearded dragon water dragon ball python corn snake melleri)
Assuming you don't find someone who is willing to take the snake, put
a instruction in your will that your executor must find a suitable
home for the animal, and financial costs resulting from that
search/transport/etc come out of your estate. If you're not sure that
someone really reliable will take care of this in a manner you'd
approve, make some sort of stipulation about what constitutes a
suitable home - a permanent shelter/zoo, an experienced individual,
something like that - make a list.
If you have no family, consider finding a good potential home for the
snake now, and leaving a lump sum to them, along with the critter - a
reptile rescue, or some such place. You don't have to worry about
staying local, since your estate can pay for transportation and set up
costs for the animal, so try to find a place that you like and think
will be there for the long term.
I know some people who have had similar challenges with the care of
long lived large birds such as ****atoos. You might want to ask about
people's arrangements on groups dedicated to those pets, the
procedures should be more or less the same.
