Default Calcium powder (iguana)

What kind of calcium powder does everyone use? With or without the
D3? With or without phosphorus? Or none at all?

Thanks, JUDY

I use liquid calcium glubionate. Suri wont touch anything that has even
been near the powder. Just real picky, I guess.

I used Calcium Carbonate USP powder that I purchased from a compounding
pharmacy. Very plain, no D3, no phosphorus. The D3 will come by proper UV
lamps and sunny days outdoors. The phosphorus will come in the right amounts
to process with the calcium through the MK diet naturally. There are many
different arguments to supplement or not. Some say everyday, some say never.
One thing that was consistent with most I've talked to is that if you can
see the dusting of calcium powder on the food, it is probably too much. I
used a salt shaker with a few of the holes covered in the top to get the
right amount easier, one for calcium and one for vitamin powder. I opted to
supplement calcium and vitamins only on weekends, I thought those two days
were a good balance between the two belief camps when it comes to
supplementing. Ted had a near perfect ratio Ca:Ph from then on. Your results
may very so be sure to let your qualified herp vet know if your intentions
and possibly schedule a blood screen every 3-6 months to make sure that
everything is still in check.
