help w/force feeding very sick male-part 2
Hi,don't feel inadequate. It's hard learning how to do everything right for your BD. I'm still learning and my Jupiter is slowly coming around. This is a little trick that always helps Jupiter to poop. I soak him in warm water, just up to the top of his front arms. Be patient, usually 10 minutes, sometimes longer. When there back legs float their ready to void. If you do it in a bathroom sink, to keep the specimen, drain the water very slowly out and let the fecal material dry a little. It should look long and pretty solid with white chalk on the end (urine). It shouldn't be real hard or runny. Nanc.

Subject: [Pogona_Diseases] help w/force feeding very sick male-part 2
thank you for all your advice...
he isn't any worse and perhaps only marginally better so far. he
still wont even try to eat on his own and is very lethargic-but he
hasn't vomited since monday that i've seen though and his beard is
only tinted black and he isn't as pale(he's normally bright yellow)-
yay!
i'm suspecting impaction...
(they were always kept in repti-sand and i changed the encl. last
month w/screened playsand, maybe the substrate change wasn't a good
thing-i know sand is a controversial issue w/beardie owners)
...no feces from him since last fri. and since theres no feces i
can't have it checked for bacteria etc.
what are the symptoms for impaction? (i don't think i can afford
xrays)
and how do you find out if they have parasites or bacteria if you
can't get a feces sample?
also this is probably going to sound silly and a bit gross but what
should "normal" feces look like? should it always be formed or is it
normal for consistany to vary depending on amt. of veggis and/or
crickets eaten?
I know runny stool or diarrhea is bad but what about "in between"?
The female (which appears to be in excellent health) had loose
stools
yesterday...and since i've had them both(3 mo.) they each have had
occasional loose stools...what's normal?
i've read quite a bit in books and the net and haven't found
anything
to answer these questions-
thanks again for all your help-i've cared for different animals all
of
my life but have never had 'lizzards' - i feel so inadequate!
