Mating african dwarf frogs when will it end???
My little 8 year old girl got 2 african dwarf frogs as a present. To
my dismay, these two happen to be male and female who won't stop
mating. I had to give the facts of life speech due to these frogs, and
now, I'm just concerned about the frogs well being and tank
cleanliness. These two are non-stop mating. The male (godzilla)
squeezes the female (roxy) around the abdomen all the time. She seems
to be elongated and twitches as though she's not OK. At first I
thought he was killing her, and my husband said, well if that's what
he wants to do, we can't watch them 24 hours a day and stop him!
The tank water, even though its filtered, has become thick with
clearish white dots that are most likely babies or eggs or whatever. I
don't know that I'm ready to deal with this new crop of babies and I
don't know how to stop these two from their activity. It is Spring, is
this the time they mate???? Is there anything that can be done to stop
this? We got 2 so they wouldn't be lonely. I'm a bit worried that we
are going to be in the 'selling baby frogs' business soon! Help !!!
I'm too embarassed to call petco and ask "what do I do???"
:O) Thanks!
