Dragon Questions

What is your dragon's name or your call name? Was Gator for the past
5 years. I changed it to Falkor for the luck dragon in the never
ending story.

How old is he? Approximately five years old

How long have you had him? A little over two weeks

Did he come from a breeder or pet store? I politely convinced his
owners to give him to me. Had no lights or food in months.

Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done? No due his health I did
not want to stress him out more. Vet is three hours away.

How long is he (snout to tail)? He is a little less than 15"

What size cage is he in? 55 now, I bought a 8x4x4 for him. Should
have the repairs done to it this week.

What substrate is he on? Small patch of washed play sand under his
basking area, and the rest is reptile carpet and paper towels.

Is he housed alone? Yes

Is he active, alert, eyes bright? The past two days he has started
to react to his enviroment more. He seems pretty lethargic to me
still.

Is he pooping? Yes

What is his basking temperature? 105

What is it being measured with (digital, stick-on, etc)? digital

Are you using any form of electronic heating device other than
overhead lighting? No

What brand, model, and size is his UVB light? ZooMed ReptiSun 10.0

How old is the UVB light? one day

How close to him is the UVB light? Probably 11"

How long are the lights on daily (day/night cycle)? 12 hours

Are the lights on a timer? Me, I purchased one from Walmart.

What greens are you offering? Mustard, Collard, Cactus pads,
Dandelion, Fresh alfalfa

What veggies are you offering? Loves squash, peas, green
beans, carrots, garbonzo, a variety of all safe plants on
reptilerooms.com

Are you misting? No, should I be? How often? Zero

Is the dragon getting baths? Yes How often? Every other evening an
hour before lights out. He usually falls asleep in the tub.

What insects are the dragons eating?crickets and superworms

What size? 1"

How often and how many?Every other day.Eats about 10 in ten minutes.
I wasn't sure since he is so old.

What are the insects being fed? I was feeding the crickets Flukers
until I read up on it. At the moment corn meal, cereal, ground up
dog food. Baby oatmeal cereal and apples for the superworms.

What calcium supplement is being used? Rep-Cal phos free with Vit. D3
How often? Every other day

What vitamin supplement is being used? Rep-Cal Herptivite
multivitamins.
How often? Twice a week

What country (and/or state) are you in? Nevada

Is there any additional information that might be of use?
I posted when I first joined about the horrific conditions Gator had
been subjected to. I think he is pulling through but he does have
some abnormalities in his tail. I am afraid to underfeed him or
overfeed him. I know that I need another source of UVB on the cool
end of the tank. Would a 7% reptile be Ok or go with another Zoo-
med? I took him out in the sun and he loved it. Is any amount of
time Ok as long as the conditions are similar with different
temperature gradients? Thanks again everyone for taking the time to
help us out.

With baths every other day no misting is 'needed' unless your room is very
dry in which case I'd mist a few times a week.

If he looks thin you can feed him that amount every day.

You can use the same greens, veggies and fruits as for beardies.

Most likely calcium/D3 problem.

You do not need two UVB light sources. One in the basking area is perfect.

Even only a few minutes in natural sunlight is beneficial for them, not only
because of the UVB but because of the intensity and quality of light that
can't be simulated 100% with any bulb or tube.
