RTs urination (tortoise)

Everytime I get my RT out of his pin to walk around my apartment he
always seems to pee on the floor. I don't know what it is but he does
this quite often and I don't know how to stop him from doing it. I
love getting him out of his cage to walk around and climb on things
but I am sick of him peeing and sometimes pooping on the carpet. Does
anyone know why this keeps happening? Thanks!

Hi,
Tortoises will pee like that when they feel threatened or afraid. You
may be stressing him out by removing him from the safety of his
enclosure.

My hovabator is set up and I'm very impressed about how it has really locked onto the temp I set. I was targeting 89 degrees and the min/max yesterday was 88.6 to 89.3. And that was with me fussing with it. Today it seems to be stuck at 89.1, which I'm assuming is ok.

Anyway, here's the question... why do we rotate bird eggs but not tortoise eggs??

I don't have a good answer except perhaps evolution. Birds evolved
incubating their eggs with body heat and are exposed to lots of movement.
Torts let the ground do the incubating so no movement

Most often this is a reaction to fear/stress. I would recommend not putting him directly onto the carpet but rather place him on a hard surface floor until after he has done his business, or bring him outside for his exercise.
