Hi everyone
Sorry I've not been around much lately but I've been very busy with various
herpy projects elsewhere, but don't worry I haven't forgotten you all
I'm writing this to ask for EVERYONE'S help to try and save our hobby over
here in the UK. You're probably all aware of the RSPCA and other anti groups
trying to ban us from keeping reptiles and exotics, and if they get their
way we'll have to hand them all over to be killed off.
Anyway, this has been brought to the forefront of discussion again this
weekend following an attempt to sabotage our efforts by the antis. They have
produced their own petition to try and counterbalance ours but all they're
doing is feeding people lies upon lies to get them to sign it. This could be
catastrophic to our cause.
You can see for youselves what they're attempting to do here:
http://www.petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=detail&pet=1069&page=3#sigs
PLEASE DO NOT SIGN THAT ONE IN MISTAKE FOR THE REAL ONE SUPPORTING
HERPERS!!!
This one can be found here:
http://www.petitionthem.com/default.asp?sect=detail&pet=994
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SIGN THE RIGHT ONE
I have spoken to someone from the FBH regarding people outside of the UK
signing it and this is her reply:
"The RSPCA policies impact not only on the UK keepers of reptiles and other
'exotic' animals, but also internationally. The RSPCA are very active in the
European scene trying to influence EU legislation which would then affect UK
law - trying to ban our hobby through the back door if you like! and they
have close links to US and European organisations such as the US based
Humane Society, and ProLife, the German animal rights group who put together
the Morbidity & Mortality report for the RSPCA, amongst others.
So in response - yes, any one who agrees with the sentiments of the petition
can sign it. We have to stand together."
So please, please, please can everyone who wishes to support us sign the
petition and pass it around to everyone with an interest in this please.
Many thanks ... I promise to post an update in a while as lots of things are
going on here at the moment ... and I'm sure I'll have a few surprises for
some of you
Chloe
