Amazon.com and I seem to have parted company due to no fault of my own.
The page 'greets' me properly, my ISP is not blocking their mail, but
I can not buy anything used off their new product pages, or rather, I
CAN 'buy' it, complete the transaction, but then they send me no mail
confirmation, and it is not recorded as a sale on my record. When I go
back to nonbuy it again, same thing happens EXCEPT that I am told it is
sold.....of course, it is, to ME....only it's not.


I HAD their USA Customer Service 1-800 number months ago but deleted it,
arrogant of me and stupid too. No search of their site, no matter how
meticulous, will unearth it, nor do they have an email address that
will directly accept mail.

Now that half.com has been made WebTv incompatible, I have no way of
buying anything.....but snakes.

Can anyone help? If anyone knows this phone number, please write me
offlist. I will phone them till my fingers are stumps; they have about
$4000 of my money over years and all of my love.

If you have that number......please?

Thanks, Josh. Not that they were able to resolve the problem, not
all the king's horses and all the king's men, but at least I got to
bitch at them for an hour. The fact that they are all 3000 miles
from each other makes half that hour holdon time, but it was
hopeless.....I wonder what I get for 'stumping' Amazon, besides not
being able to use my account anymore?

Anyway, I'm grateful.

I've had weird things like that happen a couple times, and it turned out to
be a problem with my internet settings. I don't know what the problem was
though, as husband is the geek. Maybe fr0glet or somebody here can help
you.

Wish I knew anything about WebTV, but I sure don't. Never even seen a
unit in person. Maybe it's a corrupted cookie or something.

My husband could take a quick look at your account at work tomorrow, if
you want. He doubts he could spot anything, though. He says your call
should have triggered the creation of a "trouble ticket" and a group
should be investigating. His group doesn't work on that kind of bug,
but he'd at least be able to check to make sure the ticket has been created.

Thanks all, no, for once it wasn't WebTv but Amazon. That one
webpage of theirs that I was trying to order from was
malfunctioning.....and six letters and one hour on the phone later,
they told me so.

This morning, they'd fixed it, and I got.....confirmations on all four
of the identical items they'd told me to click on.

They can't cancel the orders, as they are from the 'used' list,
private sellers, so they advised me to plead with the individual
sellers to cancel the shipment.

It was only overnight, they'd have had to be standing outside of the
Post Office to mail the CD off....but only two agreed.

Well, so I'll have duplicates, and a nice apology from Amazon. Hot
shit.

Thanks for all the concern. Nice to absolve MSN TV for once, if
nothing else.

Is your WEBTV a "Classic" or a "Plus" unit? I went to Half.com, and
everything seems to work fine for me. I didn't actually buy anything
though. Never have from there. I have a Sony "Plus" now....I did have
the "Classic" but it was so slow, and a lot of pages were too big for it
to use. Especially on eBay, to which I am addicted....lol. A friend gave
me the "Plus" and I haven't had an eBay problem since.
Also, another thing that will make ton of difference in your WEBTV
surfing capabilities, is the number that your unit dials. Check with
WEBTV, and get a number with the least amount of use, that is local for
you. That made a world of difference in mine. Once you get a good
number, have it locked in so it won't change for any reason.

I love my WEBTV, but I still gotta join the modern world & get a
computer one of these days!

I've been trying to use eBay, but I always get outbid at the very
last second. I'll be the highest bidder for a few minutes first,
so I know it's not the automated bid increase thingy where you
can set a max price.

I have even kept two windows open -- one to keep track of the
time left and the top bidder (constantly refreshing the screen),
and another with a new bid typed in, just ready to hit send.
I still never win, even if there's only 1 second left.

How do people get those last second bids in at literally the
last second? Is there a trick?

I have the upgraded classic, not the original. MAT976 perhaps it is.
I can't use the Plus, as it will work only on channels not available
in this area. Don't ask; we tried everything.

I did what half.com 'told me' to do. Deleted all my cookies. All
that did was lose me the accounts I have everywhere; it didn't help me
shop at all.

I no longer care, I'm tired of their 'technical' bad assistance and
also half.com's suggestions that don't work.

Thanks for caring but I'll do without. It's time I learned how.
