I'm not really in support of kingsnake.com, but I'm not going to avoid the site just because of the owner having a petty squabble with another site owner. He might be an asshole, but so what? There's lots of business owners that are assholes. But then again, I have no interest in kingsnakes or milksnakes, so kingsnakes.com doesn't matter to me one way or the other. -- arklier@hotnospammail.com If you can't figure out my address, you need help. Never use the search engine, myself. I just go right to what I want.
As for ugliness, I've sean much, much worse. Huh. It must be your connection, then. I'm on cable, and no page on kingsnake.com takes more than 2 seconds to load. How fast is your computer, and what browser are you using? Well, 98% of website forums do this, so it's not that unusual. I've been on a lot of boards all over the internet, and all but a few have required you to register to post. It's an enforcement tool. If you had a guest come on the forum spouting profanity and insulting everyone in sight (yes, it happens even with registered accounts) how are you going to know who to ban? Well, no foul language is also standard for 98% of website forums, so that's not unusual either. They're kind of draconian on mentioning other sites, yes, but like someone else pointed out, it's a business. Most other places will also lock or delete blatant advertisements for other boards or sites. Now this I'm going to agree with. Their forum system as a whole sucks ass, and the search feature is downright broken, PLUS it's been that way for what, a year now? A search returns items from ALL forums. So if you want to find out about the risks of feeding dart frogs mealworms, you have to sift through results from every other forum. And they haven't fixed it in spite of numurous complaints. They're very unresponsive to suggestons as a whole. It also means that you can go to the other pethobbist sites and go to exactly what you're looking for. Uniformity isn't necessarily a bad thing. Your choice, not saying it's a bad one. I like to look at the classifieds, which are still better than any other site out there, IMHO. They also have that huge comprehensive list of herp sites on the front page, which I like. -- arklier@hotnospammail.com If you can't figure out my address, you need help.
