hello community,

can someone tell me the differences between the classic seti@home project
and the new boinc based project in terms of scientific value (not computer
technology used)? unfortunately i could not find anything about that on the
new homepage. is the algorythm used now more precise or the distance where
you would detect a signal larger than in the classic project? is there a
page where they post results?

any infos would be welcome. thanx in advance!

The present boinc-seti client does exactly the same ****ysis (science)
as the present seti-classic.

However for the boinc servers at Berkeley, the WU redundancy is fixed at
a minimum of 3 WUs and a max of 4 WUs. Also, the results are checked and
added into the science database almost immediately. For contrast on
seti-classic, the WU results are not checked until 'sometime' and
there's currently a backlog of over 50 million results to be checked.

Additionally for boinc-seti:

There are optimised clients available that will perform the present
****ysis at up to THREE TIMES the speed of the standard client.

There is the seti-enhanced client that is soon to be released that will
perform more ****ysis (science) and has about twice the sensitivity of
the present client.

And boinc will support further seti clients for the new telescope data
sources that are to come online.


And there's other features...
