Default Help on Numerical Solutions of Schrodinger Eqn.

Can anyone suggest good books or good tutorial/review articles on
numerical solutions of the Schrodinger equation? I know this covers a
lot of situations, but I am particularly interested in 2D potentials
where the system displays quantum chaos. I am just starting out in this
area and I have very little experience in numerical solutions of PDEs in
general. My background is nonlinear dynamics with a lot of experience in
dissipative ODEs.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a numerical scheme for it on my web site:

I have not tried it myself, but it should work.

See my lecture notes on

also look at the 1999 Term Project for an example.

Are you interested in the time-dependent or time independent
Schrodinger equation? Dynamics or eigenfunctions? For the former an
operator splitting method using a Fast Fourier Transform would be a
good way to get started., though probably you'd want something more
sophisticated eventually. There is a old but good article from the 70's
by hasegawa and tappert on doing this for the nonlinear Schrodinger
equation.

The latter is, I think, more challenging and I'll leave it to people
who know more about this than me to give you suggestions.
