Default light bulbs

I've been doing some reading and it seems that conduction of electricity
in metals is actually a fairly complicated process. Inside a light bulb,
conduction through the filament is further complicated by the presence of
the electron cloud. If you know of numerical work that simulates electrical
conduction, especially in light bulbs, please let me know.

I have no practical application for this. I just want to know how it is done.

Ignorantly,
Allan Adler
