Well, there's places that are working on those kinds of things, both
here and overseas. The military (of course) works on that stuff.
If you want to do research, then you'll have to do honours first. So
taht means your 3 year degree becomes 4. Honours is usually a 1 year
full time research based year which you spend in a lab.
Yep, after honours, you pretty much have to do a PhD if you want to
start a career that will allow you to choose your own research. Usually
that's 3-5 years, the majority of which is independant research.
