The closest recently recorded comet that flew near the Earth was comet
Lexell in 1770.

On Jan. 26 of that year a magnitude 9 earthquake shook the west coast
of the North America.

On May 11, 1983 the comet IRAS-Araki-Al**** came within 3 million
miles of Earth. It looked as big as the full moon and sped across a
wide swath of sky in just a few days. Strange events on earth were
recorded.

You should be aware the this comet could bring debris with it and we
will pass through the debris trail. The last time this happened the
Egyptians say their rivers turn to blood.

The earthquake that you referring to is the 1700 Cascadia earthquake.
You've got the year wrong. That in itself is not a surprise. Nor will
it be a surprise when you claim that you are referring to a different
earthquake for which you will provide no evidence and, with your
accustomed hostility, will suggest that others do your work for you.

Your first two statements are correct as far as they go. You didn't
mention, likely because you thought it irrelevant, that the comet
appeared as a cloud of magnitude 3-4, as in "faint". The full moon, by
way of contrast, has an average magnitude of -12.74. meaning that the
full moon is approximately 1,000,000 times brighter if I have done the
calculation correctly.

Which strange events are associated with the appearance of this comet?
You forgot to mention any.

It was a large diffuse object with a diameter larger than the moon's
apparent diameter.
This image was taken on 1983 May 10.18 (10:20 p.m. CDT on May 9). This
was a 15-second unguided exposure with the camera simply sitting on
top a tripod. I used Kodak 400 ASA film and a 50mm lens. The comet is
just below the center and is magnified in the inset. The large diffuse
object located toward the lower left of the comet is a small cloud
moving across the sky.
