Default Greenville Slips Past Gladiators in Shootout, 4-3

Gladiators Fall to Greenville in Overtime, 4-3
VIGILANTE EXTENDS POINT SCORING STREAK TO 12 GAMES IN OT LOSS

Mike Vigilante extended his points scoring streak to 12 games and ties a
league high for consecutive game with at least a point as the Gladiators
fell to the Greenville Grrrowl, 4-3 in a shootout at the Arena at
Gwinnett Center on Saturday night.

Mike Vigilante extended his point-scoring streak to 12 games 1:51 into
the first period as he set up Anthony Aquino to give the Gladiators a 1-0
lead.

Greenville tied the game up at 1-1 on a Mike Henderson power play goal at
the 4-minute mark of the period. Ryan Stewart and Rae Metz added the
assists on the goal.

Greenville took the lead at 9:16 of the first on a shorthanded goal by
Ryan Stewart. Chris Lynch added the assist on the goal.

Rick Emmett tied the contest up just 36 seconds into the second period as
he took a pass from Kevin Doell and slipped through the slot and beat
Robinson over the shoulder. Brad Peddle also added an assist on the goal.

Peter Flache beat Gladiators goaltender Michael Garnett on a two-on-one
late in the third period to regain the lead for the Grrrowl. Brian
Passmore added an assist on the goal at the 18:38 mark of the period.

Gwinnett tied the game back up before the end of the period, this time at
3-3 as Blue Bennefield whacked a loose puck into the net. Rick Emmett
added an assist as he held the puck long enough to pull Greenville
netminder Michel Robinson out of the net giving Bennefield a wide open
net to shot out.

Following a scoreless third period and overtime session, Greenville
jumped out to quick 2-0 lead in the shootout that the Gladiators could
not erase. Henderson's first round goal in the shootout was the
difference, as the Gladiators could not pick up a single goal in the
shootout.

Gwinnett remains unbeaten at home (5-0-3) following Saturday’s shootout
loss and drops to 11-2-3 on the season.
