GARNETT MAKES 25 SAVES IN THE LOSS
The Mississippi Sea Wolves used two goals by Brent Gauvreau to knock off
the Gwinnett Gladiators, 2-1 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Tuesday
night.
Mississippi took a 1-0 lead on Brent Gauvreau’s 18th goal of the season
as he slipped a rebound past Gladiators goaltender Michael Garnett. Kerry
Ellis-Toddington and Travis Lisabeth added the assists on the goal at
12:37 of the first period.
Anthony Aquino equalized the contest at one as he put a nifty move on a
Sea Wolves defenseman and snapped a quick wrist shot past Mississippi
netminder Greg Gardner. Brandon Dietrich and Troy Milam added the assists
on the power play goal at 6:29 of the second period.
Brent Gauvreau second goal of the night regained the lead for the Sea
Wolves at 9:19 of the second period. Gauvreau slipped into an opening in
the slot on the power play and took a pass from Louis Dumont and beat
Garnett. Kerry Ellis-Toddington also picked up an assist on the goal.
The Gladiators could get not closer in the third as goaltender Michael
Garnett made 25 saves in the loss as the Gladiators fall to 22-12-3 on
the season.
