Default Wolves tie in last pre-season game

Dear JOHN,

The Chicago Wolves ended their three-game preseason schedule with a tie
against Milwaukee.
Here's the recap:

BENSENVILLE, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves rallied from a two-goal deficit in
the third period to
knot the Milwaukee Admirals, 2-2, at The Edge last night.

Chicago (1-1-1-0), which kicks off its 10th season at home next weekend,
outshot Milwaukee, 42
to 27, in the contest.

Milwaukee (1-1-1-0), which finished 1-0-1-0 against the Wolves in the
preseason, will battle
Chicago 10 times during the regular season.

The Admirals took the first lead of the game on a partial breakaway. Right
wing Alexander
Jacques faked a shot, drawing Wolves goaltender Michael Garnett out of
position before burying
the puck top-shelf for the 1-0 lead at 13:11 of the opening frame.

Garnett (1-0-0-0) recorded 11 saves before being replaced by Frederic
Cassivi (0-1-1-0) at 10:20
of the second period.

The Admirals briefly went ahead by two, 2-0, off of a wrist shot by
defenseman Ray Schultz that
bested Cassivi at 11:17 of the third stanza.

Cassivi posted 14 saves in the tie.

The Wolves launched their comeback halfway through the third period when
left wing Zdenek
Blatnys wrist shot sailed over the glove hand of Admirals netminder Doug
Teskey to cut the
deficit in half, 2-1, at 12:45.

Teskey (0-0-1-0), who replaced starter Brian Finley (1-0-0-0) at 10:20 of
the second stanza,
posted 19 saves in the stalemate. Finley turned aside all 21 shots he faced.

Chicago tied it up, 2-2, with less than a minute remaining in regulation
when captain Steve
Maltais ripped a shot that sailed inside the near post at 19:28 of the final
frame.

The Wolves open the 2003-04 season at home against the Grand Rapids Griffins
at the Allstate
Arena on Sat., Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
