I'm not a big JV fan, but in the new F1 magazine, Peter Windsor makes a
point about how the drivers are treated by the team principles. In JV's
case, Richards prefers Jenson Button and makes it obvious. Probably JV's
salary figures into that somewhat, but it does prove difficult if your input
is distained and your presence disliked. JV is fighting a very difficult
battle to overcome mentally. I expect he's toast, but I wonder what would
have happened in a stronger and more supportive team.

No one, not even JPM or Kimi. A good car is a must to battle Herr
Chinmeister. The BAR is a sick dog, caused largely by an embarrassing
devolution of Honda's once mighty commitment and success, perhaps a legacy
of the sluggish Japanese economy or lack of factory direction. The other
factor to JV's miserable year, as revealed by the racing press, is Dave
Richard's compulsive obsession of ridding the French-Canadian from his BAR
seat on tobacco promotion grounds.
