Default Two questions about St. Joe's

After beating Xavier at Xavier (a very hard feat for any college program),
do you think they deserve to be number one?

And.... I consider St. Joe's to be a mid-major, (how often do they play on
ESPN?), do you consider them perhaps to be the highest ranked mid-major
since UMass or Wichita State?

Default Two questions about St. Joe's

76 trombones in the big parade, "Blake" <noemail@spamo.com>!!!

Xavier's a little off this year. Post-David West Syndrome. They've
got some talent and a good coach, but they're still trying to get it
together.

I don't know about all this #1 stuff though. I consider their wins
over Boston College and Gonzaga more telling than Xavier.
http://www.collegerpi.com has St. Joe's #1 right now, but I'd still like to
see them play a Top Ten team before I drop the #1 tag on 'em.

St. Joe's is a very dangerous team. Best backcourt in the country,
period. Not a whole lot else, but that's more than enough for most
games.

I don't consider them a mid-major at all. Doesn't matter how many times you're
on ESPN.

They are a mid-major. The proof is their schedule. No major basketball
program goes on the road to play Boston University, Old Dominion, Drexel and
Delaware out of conference.

Not a major program by any means. Their arena they play in sits 3,200 and
they have to play their big games at the Palestra.

They are certainly a lot more mid-major than Gonzaga.

This is the first year that Gonzaga has really gotten these "name teams" on
the schedule, and that's after 4-5 years of stellar postseason play. St.
Joe's doesn't have the recent record of success that Gonzaga does but its
conference has for the most part been far more competitive. You don't see
other teams in the West Coast Conference getting the teams on the schedule
that Gonzaga does. I don't consider St. Joe's to be a mid-major because
they're from a conference that once sent 5 teams to the big dance and has
averaged about 3 bids per year. In the WCC, it's an anomaly when they get
more than one bid.
