UNC/Miami thoughts
Well, it's just *one* game, but I thought there were a lot of questions
answered. Rashad still didn't have much of an offensive game, yet he
never quit. He played hard, played good solid defense, and made smart
passes. He even sat for long stretches because Jackie was playing so
dang good, yet he came in and kept his intensity. If he can keep doing
that, the good offensive games will happen more and more often.
May had a great game on the stat sheet, but Miami has no skill nor very
much beef in the interior. Jawad had an interesting matchup with Rice
most of the time, but did well with it.
They started slow, but the defense led the way toward solid offense like
it should in Roy's system. There were certainly still plenty of mistakes
and quite frankly, *far* too many turnovers. But overall, I was happy.
We didn't shoot incredible yet still ground out a solid win over a
generally *very* athletic team. Hite is a great scorer. Rice *must*
be contained lest he become an enigma (like last year). But we never
let them have any real runs nor confidence and we kept firing (they were
5-10 from three in the first half...I thought we did a great job of
putting that to bed in the second half, though I'm not sure what the
final stats were).
Solid win. We needed to win this game by halftime to feel *good* going
into Sunday against GT. I'm really happy our first meeting with them
is at home, too. Should be a good game.
