You guys are confusing me
OK, now I'm confused. What do you want, a frigging all-star team top to
bottom?! As for the vaunted Senators, after Alfredsson, Bonk, Hossa, Havlat,
and maybe Spezza (still unproven IMO), what do THEY have? I'm not saying
they're not good, but no team in either conference lines up 9 all-stars over
the first 3 lines (including the Bruins). Lapointeless & Bergeron are not that
different from the Sens' 3rd and 4th line skaters, and Bergeron has amazing
upside.
OK, here we go again. After Redden, Chara and Phillips, what do the Sens have?
In addition, I think Jillson is proving that he might be something special -
granted, it's still conjecture, but it's something.
As for goaltending, Lalime is probably better than either Raycroft or Potvin,
based on past history, but one of these years lighting will strike and the
Bruins will finally be one of those teams with the goalie that comes out of
nowhere and stonewalls everybody - and this could be that year.
Look, I'm not saying the Bruins will beat the Sens, or that they have so much
talent they should just be awarded the cup right now. You just can't make the
argument that they are devoid of talent - christ, they finished first in the
conference a couple of years ago with a far worse roster.
There's enough talent here to win, but not so much talent that they can't lose
- that's the point I think people are making.
